Event Details

DAY 1 - SATURDAY (5.7.11):  INTRODUCTION TO EDIBLE FOREST GARDENS
1-DAY WORKSHOP (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Edible forest gardens produce delicious food while imitating natural forest ecosystems. Trees, shrubs, herbs, vines, groundcovers and fungi can combine to form healthy edible ecosystems. Design and plant selection help provide fertility, control of weeds and pests, and more. We will introduce the basic concepts, design process, and species, and do some planting.

DAY 2 - SUNDAY (5.8.11): INTERMEDIATE EDIBLE FOREST GARDENS
1-DAY WORKSHOP (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
Perennial polycultures are the building blocks of edible forest gardens. These combinations of multipurpose plant species minimize competition and maximize cooperation, and create low-maintenance food producing gardens. Learn the principles of perennial polycultures design, get some practice, and enjoy hands-on planting.

THE WORKSHOPS WILL TAKE PLACE IN WEST CHESTER, PA - this is a private residence, so directions to the event will be emailed after registration is complete
